What is Cosmetic Dentistry?
If your teeth are discolored, chipped, broken, misshapen, have gaps between them or if you're simply not satisfied with your smile, cosmetic dentistry just might be the answer. The common procedures in this field include teeth whitening, veneers, crowns and reshaping or contouring gums or teeth. Let’s discuss some of the popular procedures one by one.
Teeth Whitening can be one of the simplest and least expensive ways to improve your smile. It is a popular procedure that uses safe chemicals to lighten teeth. You may have noticed that your pearly whites are not as bright and white as they once were, and that is completely normal for them to appear less white as you grow older. Over time, the outer enamel of your teeth naturally wears off which is why having your teeth professionally whitened is a common solution that can be done here in the Philippines. An assortment of teeth-whitening systems is available, including toothpastes and rinses, over-the-counter gels, strips and trays, and whitening agents obtained from a dentist.

At GAOC, Plasma Arc Blue Light Technology is used to activate a specially formulated gel to whiten teeth. This is an effective procedure that whitens discolored or stained teeth with the latest and safest technology. Each session consists of four 15-minute cycles of exposure to blue LED light to activate the whitening agent, and will already yield immediate results. Let teeth whitening help your smile shine and sparkle now!
Dental Veneers are used to cover the front teeth to change their color or shape. They aren't just for getting the smile you've always wanted—they also help correct problems like stains, crooked teeth and chips. Veneers are custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth that are bonded with the teeth to produce aesthetically pleasing results. They are used to create natural looking teeth with the same strength and resilience.

Dental professionals determine the shape, size, and color of the veneers through facial profiling and color matching the veneer to the patient's actual teeth. This will ensure that your new smile will still look as natural as possible. At GAOC, the whole procedure may take 3-4 appointments with about 5 working days in between. More complex cases may take more time to fabricate, as our expert ceramists will be doing customized shading and fitting to ensure a natural look.
Dental Crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a weak or damaged tooth to improve its shape, size, strength, or appearance. They can restore a tooth from decay or even hold a dental bridge. Dental crowns are great for restoring the functionality of your tooth while also restoring your confidence. Most crowns last five to 15 years and can be made of metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin, or ceramic.

The procedure may vary depending on the dental clinic. The entire procedure usually can take 10-14 working days to finish the case. Before a crown is seated, the existing tooth is filed down; then the crown is cemented over it, fully encasing the tooth. Onlays and three-quarter crowns cover the underlying tooth to a lesser extent. There are some cases that will require other procedures prior to cementation of the new fixture that will need more time. Rest assured that you will be given a temporary bridge in between appointments for function and esthetics.
Gum Recontouring and Reshaping can improve a "gummy" smile in which teeth appear too short, or where the gum line appears uneven. A small amount of gum tissue -- and excess bone tissue if necessary -- is removed and contoured to expose more of the teeth. This procedure can be done to one tooth to even the gum line, or to several teeth to expose a natural, broad smile.

GAOC experts offer laser gum treatment to reshape and lift gums. The procedure is used to correct minor amounts of excessive gum tissue that results in a “gummy” or uneven smile. The laser will alter the gum's shape and size to improve its overall appearance. Oftentimes, only one laser treatment is needed to fix a gummy smile.
There are several other options that can help you achieve a better smile, but it is always best to consult with your dentist first to discuss what treatment best suits you. Whether you want a brighter, whiter smile, or want to completely change your look and have a smile makeover, a cosmetic dentist in GAOC can help you achieve your goals.
